NUMBERS NUMBERS AND NUMBERS Putting our National Debit in Perspective
Just how big is our National Debit. Well it changes by the second but when I wrote this it was 31,798,695,262,864. That is almost 32 trillion. But what does that mean. The number is hard to imagine unless you compare it to things that are a bit more concrete. 32 trillion is an incredibly large number, so it can be difficult to fully grasp its magnitude. Here are a few examples to put it into perspective:
I am 65 years old and that is 34,186,698 minutes which is a drop in the bucket compared to our debit. In seconds that is 2,049,840,000. Even in seconds not even close.
Proxima Centauri our closest star is 4.3 light years. Think about that. Turn on a flash light and it would take 4.3 years if it was bright enough to get to Proxima Centauri. In miles that is 25,300,000,000,000 miles and still short of our National Debit number.
32 trillion seconds is equivalent to over 1 billion years.
If you counted from 1 to 32 trillion, it would take you over 1 million years to finish.
If you had 32 trillion dollars and spent $1 per second, it would take you over 1 million years to spend it all.
The Earth’s current human population is estimated to be around 7.9 billion people. 32 trillion divided by 7.9 billion equals approximately $4,050 for every person on the planet.
If you earned $10,000,000 ten million dollars a day it would take you 8,761 years to earn 32 trillion.

In short, 32 trillion is an enormous number that represents an unfathomable amount of money or time.
