A photograph is what you see in your minds eye. On one hand this is a sand dune with a salt pan in the Namibian desert where annual precipitation is 2 millimeters or less. Flying in a helicopter the salt pan reflects the blue sky and suddenly we have what appears to be a lake in the middle of a sand dune. Water a symbol of life and the harsh desert a symbol of death. As we circled the dune it wasn’t really working for me until I saw the salt pan as water and at that moment I felt the image and made the shot.
