PHOTOGRAPHERS
Resilience & Rejuvenation,
or How to Last & Love What You Do
Do you ever find yourself in a creative rut, simply shooting
cookie-cutter assignments or projects? Even with an arsenal of current
technology, the best computer, and the most current edition of
Photoshop, your work can suffer if you lose that spark of inspiration
that we all need. How do you rejuvenate yourself and get excited once
again about picking up your camera? This event with Canon Explorer of
Light Seth Resnick may be just what the doctor ordered!
Join us as Seth shares anecdotes on dealing with clients, both for
assignment and stock, favorite and most unusual projects and what drove
him to tackle them, his observations on the state of the industry and
his take on stock photography. What are some of the most powerful
lessons Seth has learned in his photographic career? How has he
transformed from a fledgling newspaper photographer into the industry
icon he is now? And finally, what jazzes Seth about taking out his
camera today? How does he recharge his creative
DIGITAL WORKFLOW LIVE
No one ever accused a creative mind of being organized. The two don't
usually go hand in hand. But when you're a photographer, being
organized is invaluable. And if you're shooting digitally, it's
crucial. Utilizing the 5 modules of Lightroom 3 Seth Resnick will
demonstrate detailed workflow, digital asset management, processing and
image delivery. You'll also learn to tag, name, size, and sharpen your
images so they're perfect for reproduction. Plus, you'll become an
expert in keeping every image you shoot organized and archived.
DEMYSTIFYING DIGITAL
Many photographers assume that the switching to digital simply means
changing equipment and using a digital camera instead of film. This
philosophy couldn't be farther from the truth. The entire process of
digital is different from analog. This lecture sponsored by Canon's
Explorer of Light Program will provide valuable information to those of
all levels of experience in digital imaging. It will feature a format
that is taught in English not Ubergeek and will focus on the "Hows" of
digital capture, file prep and delivery. Some topics include:
Lightroom, Photoshop CS5, Camera Raw, Bridge, raw vs. jpg, color space,
white balance, understanding histograms, interpolation, digital
exposure vs. film, digital problems and answers, sharpening, metadata,
archiving and digital negative format. Resnick is a rare melange of
inspiration, business acumen, creativity and tech-no-fluency. He is
considered a leader in untangling the snarl of digital issues that
frustrates many film and digital photographers. Seth has been working
hand in hand with Adobe as an alpha developer aiding in making workflow
a breeze for photographers.

Some recent memos regarding my
lectures:
Hello Mr. Resnick,
I'm writing to tell you how much everyone (especially myself) loved
your presentation at South Florida Camera Club . I want you to know how
valuable the knowledge and experiences you shared with us were to me. I
recently got to do a presentation about my photography at a university
to students that are interested in they type work I do. This was my
first presentation so I was quite nervous. Because your presentation is
the best I have seen, I went over what you did in my mind to prepare
for this event. This helped me emmencely so I wanted to let you know
how much it meant to me...
Dear Members
I am always amazed by no matter how long I am in this business or how
far along I am in my career, by the little gems of knowledge I pick up,
just by being at ASMP meetings. Last Wednesday evening many of those
gems were offered by Seth Resnick (founder of D-65 workshops) who gave
us a great presentation of both his personal images and working
techniques.
I know what most of you are thinking; I've have seen it all! What could
be new out there?
Well think of this. When most of us started out, one
camera and three lenses got you through most assignments for years.
Today, forget about the ever-changing world of digital cameras, let's
look at the constantly evolving world of programs and their workflows.
Personally, if had I stayed comfortably in my office over the last two
years, today I would be like the mountain man who came to town trying
to figure out what writing is all about without even knowing an
alphabet existed!
Within the first 20 minutes, Seth opened my eyes to a color management
technique in the workflow that made so much sense, I implemented it the
very next day when a client called to crunch me with one of those
Say what?????!!!! impossible deadlines where I had
to deal with an outside printing service whose final result I would not
be able to see before the delivery overseas for which I would be
responsible for. Result….right on target and I became
the hero. For that gem of info and many others plus a healthy dose of
inspiration, thank you Seth.
Dear Seth
I just wanted to pass on a HUGE thank you from the members of Kendall
Camera Club, for your sponsorship of Seth Resnick last week. He totally
impressed everyone and, more importantly, inspired us! His images were
BEAUTIFUL and he was an excellent speaker, combining personal
anecdotes, both touching and humorous. We had a full house attend (a
little over 100 people) and I have already received requests to have
Seth back next year.
Thank you again!
Hi Seth,
I just wanted to thank you for a great talk on Thursday night. I am
sorry I didn't get to meet you in person. I came late (which is not
usual for me) and had to leave early (which I always do), but was so
enthralled with the lecture that I didn't even notice the time until
you said something! It was a very inspiring (and somewhat humbling) talk
To our members:
His generosity and enthusiasm is endless, and he's simply one of those
very special people who's firing on all cylinders at all times; he's
truly an exceptional person. If you own a camera, have an interest in
communicating with pictures, and/or of being in the business of
photography, he is your friend. Period. You are already connected with
him. What you will gain from a "dose of Seth" is born out of his
unselfish
love and passion for photography.
